Challenge Accepted! Date #6
Back in March, 8 couples bravely accepted our Date Night Blog Challenge. Their challenge was to plan a fun and creative date night that kept within a $25 budget. They also had to commit to blogging about it on our SBC Blog. It appears that each couple had tons of fun in the process and we know you will have a lot of fun reading their posts! After we have posted all 8 date nights, readers will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite. The winning couple will receive a night at the Summerland Waterfront Resort and a $75 gift card to the restaurant of their choice.
Thanks to each couple who braved the challenge and put time, effort and creativity into their date. We hope the following posts will inspire you to get creative and plan your own special date night and enjoy the beautiful place we live.
We also want to express our sincere thanks to the Summerland Waterfront Resort for donating the prize of a one night stay at their beautiful resort.
Date Night #6: Steve & Stephanie Erdt
Well, rather than a date night we turned this into a date day as our daughter was in a skating camp in Kelowna for the day. We took the opportunity to spend the day together and have some fun and a little adventure.
Our morning started with dropping our daughter off at the rink and heading out for a morning coffee and treat at the Marmalade Cat Cafe! As we parked and were going to plug the meter, a lady came along yelling, "Don't pay that thing!" Turns out you don't have to pay on Saturday, saving us a little more money for our date.
With both my wife and I not eating gluten this is the perfect place as they serve gluten-free products from Summerland! Steph and I indulged in a butter tart bar to share and it was amazing! We had a wonderful time just being with each other and chatting about our lives and where we are headed in the future. The time was great together!
After the cafe, we strolled through a few stores and just hung out together. Our next stop was getting each other a little something. We decided that each of us would get a budget of $5 to spend and we would go to the dollar store and get presents for each other. This turned out to be a blast and a ton of fun.
After the shopping we decided that we would go on a hike (because it's free) and something we love to do together. We chose to go up Knox Mountain and took our presents and did a reveal at the turnaround (based on time to get our daughter). Surprisingly we each bought four items for each other and the gifts were fun and thoughtful.
All in all it was a wonderful day together with some treats, presents, and activity. Oh yeah we only spent a total of $23.59. Worth every penny to spend the day together with my wife! Thank-you to the church for promoting this as it is so easy to put family first over your spouse and this "challenged" us to spend the day together!
