Have you experienced a perfect moment recently? The kind of moment that was just so absolutely perfect you wanted it to last forever. Maybe it was the time when the weather was fantastic and your golf ball sailed down the middle of the fairway. Maybe you remember the moment when you realized the children were playing quietly together for the first time. Maybe it was that one evening when the Christmas tree was lit, the presents were wrapped, the aroma of fresh baking predominated and your favorite Christmas song filled the air.
You know the kind of moment I mean: it was just so perfect it couldn’t get any better.

Those kinds of moments occur so rarely we tend to remember them long after they have
come and gone. They are gifts of grace to us, a foretaste of heaven, an echo of the garden
and a reminder of how perfect the first Christmas really was.

This advent season we want to remember how perfect Christmas really is. Not the perfection that comes from over-scheduling and striving to control every detail of our days but the perfection that came when God stepped into our world in the perfect gift of a baby. It was a perfect moment that is still echoing down through the millennia and still has the power to capture our imaginations. It was the perfect moment of all time.

In the book of Galatians that perfect moment was described this way:
“ When the time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under law,to redeem those under law, that we might receive the full rights of children.” Galatians 4:4-5
It was absolutely perfect and couldn’t get any better!
