The 12 Anchors

from Pastor Lee

Here is the list I promised during the sermon last Sunday.

This list is not comprehensive nor does it contain every truth that could be an anchor for you. It is just a start.

As you read in Scripture, what are some of the things that you read to be true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and admirable?

  1. God is good.

Mark 10:18 – No one is good but One, that is, God.

  2. God’s love endures forever.

Psalm 106:1-2 – Praise the LORD. Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.  Who can proclaim the mighty acts of the LORD or fully declare his praise?

  3. You have been set free.

Romans 8:1 – Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

  4. You are not alone.

Hebrews 10:24-25 – And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

  5. God promises to provide for your needs.

Philippians 4:19 – And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.

  6. You have been saved by grace.

Ephesians 2:8-9 – For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.

  7. God is working in your life.

Philippians 1:6 – Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

  8. God hears your prayers.

1 John 5:14-15 – This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us–whatever we ask–we know that we have what we asked of him.

  9. Trials make you mature.

James 1:2-4 – Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

  10. God is faithful.

1 Corinthians 1:9-10 – God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

  11. God is in control.

Proverbs 19:21 – Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.

  12. God never changes.

James 1:17 – Whatever is good and perfect comes down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow.
