Patrick Fortune has had a varied industrial process career, mainly in Oil & Gas Operations with a mid-career switched to Safety Professional. Patrick specialized in Root Cause Analysis for significant workplace incidents. He still teaches and consults on those processes occasionally. Patrick has a degree in Biblical Studies bridged from 2 Colleges (NABC & CBC) and after graduating, he and Dianne moved to Whitecourt AB to assist in a church plant for the Alliance church. Over the years he has served as Elder, Worship Leader, Secretary, Treasurer, Youth Sponsor, Drama Leader and on numerous ad hoc committees. The Fortunes eventually moved to Grande Prairie to raise their family near relatives when their kids were young. There Pat’s favorite involvements were leading Alpha tables and performing/directing thought provoking skits and drama for the large C&MA church they attended.
Patrick’s faith journey began ‘more than a few years ago’ in Hedley BC., through Del and Sandi Reimer’s ministry at the One-Way Adventure Foundation. There he worked alongside Randy and Sharlene Wheeler and also met his ‘better half’ Dianne. Pat likes to say they have been “attending SBC for 35 years but the first 31 were about once every 3rd summer” while visiting their friends here in Summerland. Patrick & Dianne had two children -now 2 incredible adults; Bryce owns a growing oilfield rental business in Grande Prairie and Shevaun works as a Theatre Facilities Manager for the WCTC in Kamloops. Pat & Dianne feel they were successful in finding a place to semi retire where their kids want to come as often as possible!
Pat has also been ‘chipping away’ at a master’s degree in science and Religion at Biola University, but exchange rates and time constraints have him undecided if that will continue. Patrick’s mix of industry and church experience in leading teams, combined with management and financial acumen make him well positioned for the Lead Administrative Director Role.
