Ok, so I’ve been reading too many Louis L’Amour novels lately. But on July 2nd a young man from Ontario will actually make his way west and south to take part in a Mercy Tech Mission training trip to the California Baja.
Aaron Rustenburg, a 25-year-old automotive technician from Paul’s Auto Service in Niagara, Ontario, will join me at Los Olivos, the One Life One Chance mission base in San Quintin as we continue the automotive training work there.
On our application forms, we ask our volunteers what motivates them to take part in a MTM training trip. I was impressed with Aaron’s reply.
“We are meant for more than just using our skills for serving our own selves financially,” he writes. “We too often take for granted the blessing that the skills and education we have here are. Traveling to a developing country to share this with people seems like it would be a more important way to use my abilities than earning money to purchase things for my own self-service.”
And if you haven’t already seen it on our Facebook page, here is a short video with some of the highlights from our most recent trip to Swaziland, Africa.
