Have a Heart!
By Heidi Friesen
Every year, on the Sunday before Valentine’s Day, SBC hangs heart-shaped prayer requests that have been printed out by our SBC Kids and hung from the ceiling in the foyer.
Our church foyer looks beautiful and seeing the hearts reminds us to love and to pray for the kids God has given to our church family.
Some of the requests have made me laugh. A child last year prayed that he could get a better dog!
Some kids want prayer that they will get to go to Disneyland.
Or Lego Land:
Some ask for more practical things:
Some requests make me cry – like this one from Carla Richert’s granddaughter:
Some make me thankful that God has given us some pretty smart kids:
Seeing our church family come together to pray for our kids makes my heart glad.
Praying for people is a great privilege and praying for our children even more so.
People were bringing little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them. Matthew 10:13-16
