Proclaim The Father's Love
Have you ever felt God nudge you to help someone in a practical way?
Maybe it’s something as simple as taking someone a meal, looking after someone’s young children, offering to drive for someone who has to make repeated hospital visits...
Have you ever wondered if that small act could really make much of a difference?
Not long ago, a group of friends from SBC organized a bake sale to raise funds for Hope Bay Bible Camp. Dustin Heigh is the Camp Director, and he and his wife Christy and their children used to live here in Summerland and attended SBC. Heading into summer, the camp had a number of needs; one being the roof on the Camp Director's house that desperately needed to be replaced. Through the generosity of our church family, enough money was raised and on the May long weekend a group of men packed up their tools and supplies and headed to the island to replace the roof.
A very practical gift. A roof that wouldn’t leak.
But it turns out it was so much more than that...
Please read the heartfelt words that Dustin and Christy wrote in a thank you card to our church family. And please take the time to watch the video Dustin created of that weekend that speaks volumes of how, when we follow God’s nudging and act, we proclaim the Father’s Love.
To our loving family at SBC,
Dustin and I wanted to write and thank you all so much for the wonderful and generous display of love you have given to us. We are so overwhelmed by the gift you have given us. It means so much more to us than a new roof. So. Much. More.
Yes, it is wonderful fulfillment of a very practical need, but even more so it is an amazing encouragement to our hearts. We are blessed. We are not alone. This is so perfectly timed. I shake my head at the amazing Faithfulness of a loving Father who knows our deepest needs. Just like the paralytic whom was lowered to Jesus through the roof, Jesus saw that his heart needed healing first... and then he would walk. We too were in such need of an act of love and generous encouragement, even more than a new roof. And God, in His great love, has provided us both. Thank you SO much! To Him be all the glory.
“Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever, Amen." Ephesians 3:20-21
Thank you for being His hands and feet. Love you all. Dustin and Christy and kids, along with the Hope Bay Bible Camp staff.
