Update

Greetings SBC family and community.  As we navigate the unpredictable days of the season we're in, we as a staff and leadership are committed to constant communication and dependence on God for our steps forward.  At the moment,  foreseeing a timeline for when our ministry schedule will be back to normal is very difficult.  We are planning our online ministries and program schedule in preparation for a longer term basis than originally anticipated.  We are, however, excited for the resources and opportunities we will be making available for you to stay connected as we together worship God and reach our community for Jesus.  Please stay tuned and trusting in Him to empower each of us to make an impact in His name.

May you be encouraged in Jesus Christ in the season ahead

Pastor Jason Johnson.

Update

At Summerland Baptist Church we have outlined a plan to continue to follow the recommendations of the BC Health Ministry. Below is the latest information and plan that we have adopted (as of March 18, 2020):

THE CHURCH BUILDING IS CLOSED UNTIL MARCH 31, 2020.
This is in step with the recommendations given by the WHO and Canadian Federal health experts to help stop the possible spread. After this 2-week period, the SBC staff will re-evaluate on a weekly basis.

NO SUNDAY SERVICES OR MID-WEEK PROGRAMS.
Due to the building closure and the BC Health recommendation to ban gatherings of 50 or more, we will not be holding any services or mid-week programs.
Instead, we invite you to join us online, through our livestream. On Sunday at 9:00am, you will be able to worship, pray, and connect by CLICKING HERE.

STAFF WILL WORK FROM HOME, IF POSSIBLE.
The ministry and administrative staff at SBC have been told to work remotely, or from home as much as possible. If you have an immediate need please call the office where you will be directed to connect with staff from there, (250) 494-3881.

RESOURCES WILL BE AVAILABLE THROUGH OUR WEBSITE.
We encourage you to engage with us! We will have a more comprehensive 'Resources' page on our website. Here we would love for you to engage with your family, friends, and each other using these tools. Check out www.summerlandbaptist.ca for more.

Statement

Dear friends and family of Summerland Baptist,
The B.C. health authorities have made an official request, in response to COVID-19, to suspend all gatherings of more than 50 people.  We realize the obvious implications this has to our gatherings here at SBC.  After careful and prayerful consideration, we have decided to refrain from meeting for both Sunday morning services and all mid-week ministry programs until further notice.  This will be effective immediately.

However, we invite you to join our livestream service at 9:00am on Sunday as we worship, pray and connect. You can access the livestream HERE at that time.

The leadership at SBC has made this decision out of a desire to be caring neighbors in our community. As we navigate the weeks ahead, we will remain consistent with our call to extend the love and hope of Jesus at every opportunity and decision.

At this point we do not have an estimated time of how long this will be in effect, but we plan to offer regularupdates. So please stay tuned.

On behalf of the staff and leadership of Summerland Baptist Church,

Pastor Jason Johnson
